<p>A method of cutting a series of labels of non-rectangular shape from a continuous strip of material and applying the labels to articles to be labelled, wherein the strip is cut trnsversely into pieces each of a length equal to or greater than that of each label, each piece in turn is accurately positioned and fed between a punch and die which are operated to cut a label from a surrounding waste portion, each label is then separated from its waste portion by feeding it on to a rotating adhesive drum, adhesive is applied to the label on the drum, the waste portion is discharged away from the drum, and the label, with adhesive applied to it, is precisely delivered from the drum on to the article.</p> |
