As is known, the thread pull during the yarn take-up increases, approximately in the last fifths of the bobbin run of a run-off bobbin, for example of a spinning cop, to a multiple of the thread pull which prevails at the start of the bobbin run. The most effective improvement is afforded by a drive of the run-off bobbin in the opposite direction of rotation to the rotation of the thread balloon, so that the relative speed between the balloon thread and the air is reduced. According to the invention, to improve the run-off behaviour, the run-off bobbins are driven pneumatically. The connection of the pneumatic drive is made as a function of a preset thread pull.
