In a device for baking cakes which includes baking oven into which plates for carrying cake dough are introduced and from which baked cakes are delivered, stages of receivers are fixed to form vertical rows for guiding the plates horizontally. First and 2nd members for feeding the plates vertically are arranged on both sides of the fixed receivers and are movalbe in vertical directions and opposite to each other by a distance equal to interval between the fixed receivers. Stages of plate receivers are movably arranged at intervals, which are twice interval between fixed receivers. Pawls are arranged for feeding the plates horizontally when the movable receivers are located on a level with the fixed receivers. Heat sources are arranged between the fixed receivers.
