In the case of a hand-held weapon having liquid gas as the propellant for the projectile (10), a valve (5) is assigned to the replaceable compressed-gas container (2). This valve (5) is briefly opened by means of a spring-loaded firing piece (6) which can be released by the trigger (7). A gas pipe (8) leads from the valve (5) to the rear end of the barrel (9) which accommodates the projectile (10). In order to ensure that the propellant gas pressure on the projectile (10) is always the same irrespective of temperature differences, at least a partial area (12) of the gas pipe (8) can be heated electrically, controlled by a thermostat (14).
