The invention relates to a process by means of which mercury can be removed from a non-polar, organic medium such as a liquid hydrocarbon compound, especially a natural gas condensate, by bringing the medium that is to be treated into contact with a adsorbent, especially an ion exchanger resin containing the active thiophene groups. By means of this process it is possible to remove 97% of the mercury from the medium being treated.
