PURPOSE:To regulate the thickness of developer layers uniformly by providing a regulating roller opposite to the peripheral surface of a developing sleeve which is positioned between the magnetic poles of a multipolar magnet. CONSTITUTION:The magnetic developer 5 contained in a developer tank 4 is attracted onto the peripheral surface of a developing sleeve 2 by the magnetic effect of a magnetic roller 3, and forms a developer layer on the peripheral surface thereof. The developer layer moves in an arrow (b) direction integrally with the peripheral surface of the sleeve 2 in accordance with the rotating and driving of the sleeve 2 in the arrow (b) direction. During the course of this movement, the developer layer passes between the sleeve 2 and a regulating roller 8, and at that time, the thickness of the developer layer is regulated. Since the thickness is regulated by the strong magnetic fields formed respectively in the inlet and outlet in the proximity part of the sleeve 2 and the roller 8, the thickness is regulated extremely uniformly. |
