<p>PURPOSE:To obtain good efficiency of carbon collection as well as an almost complete regeneration by allowing a foam filter and a honeycomb filter to work with their best performance as well as to make up for their defects by each other. CONSTITUTION:A foam filter 5 is furnished on the upper flow side of a honeycomb filter 6 in the stream of exhaust gas, in contact with this honeycomb filter 6, and these filters 5, 6 are housed in a stainless container 3 so as to be supported elastically in the radial direction with the aid of a stainless wire-net 4. When the exhaust gas passes through the foam filter 5, fine carbon particles in the range of comparatively larger particle size are collected. Then the exhaust gas flows into the honeycomb filter 6, and when it passes through pores in a partition wall, most of residual carbon particles are collected to assure releasing of an exhaust gas with low content of fine carbon particles.</p> |
