PURPOSE:To obtain the subject cable exhibiting high strength and high elastic modulus exceeding the performance of steel cable by using a high-elongation high-strength fiber having specific physical properties as the core wire of element wire constituting a fiber-reinforced composite cable and using a specific fiber having high modulus and strength as the side wire. CONSTITUTION:A strand is produced by using a high-elongation and high- strength fiber having an elongation of 1-10% and a tensile strength of >=200kg/mm<2> (preferably acrylonitrile-base carbon fiber) as the core wire 1 of the element wire of a reinforcing fiber constituting a fiber-reinforced composite cable and using a pitch-base high-modulus carbon fiber having an elongation of <=0.8% and an elastic modulus of >=35t/mm<2> as the reinforcing fiber of the side wire 2. The reinforcing fiber of the strand is impregnated with a thermoplastic resin (preferably epoxy resin, etc.) and the circumference of the strand is covered with a braided material of polyester fiber, etc. The covered strand is heat-treated to obtain the objective fiber-reinforced composite material cable exhibiting high strength and high elastic modulus exceeding the performance of steel cable. |
