PURPOSE:To attain rapid optical exchange by constituting a switch part by piling plural units of block consisting of wave guide type optical switches. CONSTITUTION:The wave guide type optical switch 32 is constituted of an on-off type optical switch which forms a light transmitting condition when it is turned on, and forms a light nontransmitting condition when it is turned off. A unit of the block 34 is formed of the plural switches 32, which are provided in parallel in a substrate 38. The switch part 36 is formed by piling the plural substrates 38. On and off of the switch 32 are selectively controlled, whereby connection (optical junction) between input and output ports is controlled. Therefore, light can be inputted into the arbitrary input ports 40a and outputted from the arbitrary output ports 42a. Thus, the light can be rapidly exchanged. |
