<p>PURPOSE:To have always good steering feeling with a power steering device, in which a motor for steering aid is controlled in accordance with the steering torque if it lies within a certain range, by controlling the motor in accordance with the rotating angle of the steering wheel when the steering torque is out of the mentioned range. CONSTITUTION:A rack shaft 1 is rotatably borne in a rack shaft case 2 stretching in the direction across the car body. A pinion shaft 3 is arranged aslant intersecting this rack shaft 1, and a major bevel gear 31 is fixed to the bottom of that lower shaft 3b part of pinion shaft 3 protruding from a pinion shaft case 4. This major bevel gear 31 is meshed with a minor bevel gear 32 rotated by a motor 8 for steering aid through an electromagnetic clutch 16 and a planetary speed reduction gear 9. This motor 8 performs drive control on the basis of output from a torque sensor 6 to sense the steering torque applied to the steering wheel when the torque lies within a certain specified range, and carries out drive control in accordance with the rotating angle of the steering wheel sensed by a steering wheel sensing means, not illustrated, when the steering torque is out of the mentioned range.</p> |
