PURPOSE:To improve the convergence of beams by a method wherein the distance between the beams taken out of unstable and stable resonators is narrowed and the two beams are made to be in parallel with each other. CONSTITUTION:A collimate mirror 20 and a cylindrical mirror 30 constitute a basic mode resonance by a stable resonator in a P-plane and constitute an unstable resonator in an S-plane. A coupling mirror 9 narrows the distance between two beams 81 and 82 taken out by its reflective planes 91 and 92 and guides them to a matching mirror 10. A phase regulator 11 is attached to the mirror 10 and the phases of the output beams 81 and 82 are adjusted and the beams 81 and 82 are made to be in parallel with each other and outputted by the reflective planes 101 and 102 of the mirror 10. As a result, the output beams become plane waves close to each other with adjusted phases in the S-plane and become Gauss-mode waves in the S-plane and a beam with a very small divergent angle and excellent convergence can be provided. If the beam is condensed by a lens or the like, it is focused into a spot nearly a diffraction limit by a diffraction effect, so that a laser with a high output and high convergence can be obtaind. |
