PURPOSE:To prevent a recording head from being damaged during maintenance work, by providing a protection cover adapted to automatically cover the recording head when an upper casing is opened, in a recording apparatus having a recording head movable with the upper casing. CONSTITUTION:When an upper casing 19 is opened, a coupling plate 13 also moves upwardly, but a holder 2, a printing head 2 and a protection cover 8 remain as they are until the lower edge 14' of a lower slot 14 of the coupling plate 13 contacts a pin 10, and a pin 15 of the coupling plate 13 moves to a position above a slot 12 of a bent side surface 9 of the protection cover 8. When the upper casing 19 is further opened, the lower edge 14' of the slot and the pin 10 contact each other and the holder 2 pivots about a fulcrum 3. In this case, since the coupling plate 13 is rotatably fixed to the pins 17, 10, the angle theta between the coupling plate 13 and the holder 2 becomes larger as the opening operation of the upper casing 19 progresses. As a result, the protection cover 8 which will not rotate relatively to the coupling plate 13 moves to a position where the former covers both sides and lower end front surface of the recording head 1. |
