The invention relates to a polymer material containing an aromatic base polymer which is not a formaldehyde resin and further contains, as a nonflammability (flame resistance) enhancer a soluble phenol-formaldehyde, urea- formaldehyde or melamine-formaldehyde resin in an amount of 1-15 wt% of the base polymer and, if required, further customary additives.
