PURPOSE: To determine the most suitable starting point of a cruciform ligament at the femur and the tibia, to finish femur and tibia tunnels, and to support the ligament at the tunnels with tension force by attaching a suture material with tension force, and attaching a tension isometry measuring device to measure changes of tension when the knee is bent in all the range of movement. CONSTITUTION: A stud 19 and driver 20 are guided by a surgeon to the spot on the femur where the top of a drill 21 strikes and the surgeon believes to be a starting point of isometry on the femur. Next, the stud 19 is carefully screwed into the bone, then the driver 20 is carefully pulled out of the stud 19, while a suture material 24 is remained inside the stud 19, extending from inside the stud 19. So the suture material 24 is pulled by the driver 20 to the outside of a tibia tunnel 18. In order to decide whether the edge of the tibia tunnel 18 and the selected point on the femur are really points of isometry, an artificial ligament, that is the edge of the suture material 24, is connected to a tension isometry measuring device under appropriate tension. When previously a prescribed load is given on a scale of the tension isometry measuring device, the knee, will be bent at various angles, and the force applied at each angel will be measured. |
