PURPOSE:To obtain a specular surface state with which good images can be formed by finishing the surface of the base body to a specular surface by means of a diamond tool for cutting, of which the main cutting ridge formed by a rake face and a front relief face is formed of a curved surface having a specific radius of curvature and both faces are formed smoothly continuous with the curved surface of the main cutting ridge. CONSTITUTION:The substrate for the photosensitive drum is cut by using the diamond tool 11 for cutting, of which the main cutting ridge (a) formed by the rake angle 11a and the front relief face 11b is formed of the curved surface having 0.15 to 3.5mum radius R1 of curvature and the rake angle 11a and the front relief face 11b are formed smoothly continuous with the main cutting ridge (a), by which the surface of the specular surface state is formed. The high-grade specular surface state is obtd. without executing cutting for flattening or with extremely slight cutting for flattening. Mounting of the tool to a cutting device is usually necessitated just once and the number of man-hours for preparatory work is reduced. |
