A crane control for a swing crane which crane has a hoisting gear, a boom being rotated by a swing mechanism and having a working range determined by the position of the trolley moving on the boom and driven by a trolley drive, has a single channel control logic with programmable memory in which memory critical data corresponding to marginal movements ant/or loads of a hoisting gear and marginal movements of a trolley drive are stored. The hoisting gear and the trolley drive are provided with sensors which transmit signals proportional to the movements of the trolley or the loads suspended by the hoisting gear. The programmable control logic controls the hoisting gear and the trolley drive depending on the stored critical data and the actual signals transmitted by the sensors. A device for cyclically performing a self-test of the control logic is provided. A crane control in accordance with the present invention has lower production and assembly costs and provides a better protection against operational errors than crane controls of the prior art.
