An orbital table assembly having a top plate (10) which can be made to orbit in a predetermined orbital path without rotating, and having a fixed base plate (20) under said top plate and a linkage plate (30) between the two other plates, while an orbiting cam (24) secured to the top plate (10) imparts orbital motion thereto. A first means (28) (38) is provided to secure the linkage plate to the base plate to prevent rotation of the linkage plate while permitting linear lateral movement in one direction only, and a second means (14) (38) is provided to secure the top plate to said linkage plate to prevent rotation of said top plate while permitting linear lateral movement in a single direction perpendicular to the aforesaid direction. The device is particularly suitable to applications where orbital motion of a workpiece, working tool, or both is utilized to produce complex shapes in the workpiece. |
