<p>Sepn. of a p-isomer from a feed contg. a mixt. of arom. isomers is effected by adsorption of the p-isomer on a X or Y zeolite which has been cation-exchanged with cations which make the zeolite selective for the p-isomer. The improvement comprises using a zeolite which has been treated with an alkylamine or its hydrochloride. The zeolite is suitable a Bax, BaKX or KY zeolite. The pretreatment is pref. effected by passing an aq. soln. of (di)methylamine hydrochloride(I) over the zeolite to incorporate 0.004-0.121 equivs. of (I) into the zeolite.</p> |
