MICROORGANISM SHOWING DECOMPOSITION PERFORMANCE ON SODIUM DODECYL SULFATE AND USE THEREOF

PURPOSE:To obtain a bacterium showing assimilating and decomposing performances on sodium dedecyl sulfate, consisting of a specific Pseudomonas sp. CONSTITUTION:A bacterium deposited as Pseudomonas sp. No41-SK strain (FERM P-10189). The bacterium has ability of assimilating and decomposing sodium dedecyl sulfate. Assimilation and decomposition of the bacterium shows phenomena wherein cells take and consume sodium dedecyl sulfate as a carbon source and multiply and does not simply mean cleavage of carbon-carbon bond or carbon-sulfur bond of sodium dedecyl sulfate. Sodium dedecyl sulfate contained in soil water can be efficiently decomposed and removed by bringing the bacterium into contact with life waste water or industrial waste water and the bacterium contributes to cleaning of environment.
