A composition suitable for coating metal objects to protect them from corrosion. The composition comprises: (A) an elastomer; and (B) at least one non-carbonated hydrated metal-containing complex of: (B-1) at least one metal-containing reagent; and (B-2) at least one acidic organic reagent or an ester or an alkali metal or alkaline earth metal salt thereof, wherein (B-1) is in stoichiometric excess to the acidic organic reagent or ester or alkali metal or alkaline earth metal salt thereof, and may also contain other components such as waxes, antioxidants, auxiliary corrosion preventives, etc. The compositions, when applied to a metal object are not readily removed or damaged when the coated objects are handled, and resist damage from impact and/or abrasion. |
