A method of operating nuclear reactors with boiling water. In the operation of a nuclear reactor with boiling water, the water in the reactor circulates through a circulation system (6) in which the steam formed in the reactor boiler (1) passes to a steam turbine (7) and from there to a condenser (8) and the resulting condensate is returned to the reactor boiler. The formation of oxygen in the reactor water after it has passed through the reactor boiler can be neutralised and the oxygen formed made harmless by adding hydrogen to the reactor water. The hydrogen gas is supplied from an electrolyser (15) fitted with a solid electrolyte, the hydrogen gas being generated in the said electrolyser by electrolysis during operation of the reactor and the generation and supply of hydrogen gas to the reactor water is controlled quantitatively, either directly or indirectly, by controlling the electrolysis current directly or indirectly with the power of the reactor.<IMAGE> |
