PURPOSE:To provide the title binder outstanding in the mechanical strength and resistance to seawater of the resulting cured products, obtainable at low cost by utilizing industrial wastes such as granulated slag, comprising a potential hydraulic material and strongly alkaline substance. CONSTITUTION:The objective binder comprising (1) 100 pts.wt. of a potential hydraulic material such as (a) volcanic ash or (b) slag as a byrproduct formed in the purification of blast-furnace granulated slag, converter slag or other metals and (2) pref. 1-30 pts.wt. of a strongly alkaline substance (e.g., sodium hydroxide). Furthermore, if need, ca. 0.1-15 pts.wt., based on 100 pts.wt. of the hydraulic material, of a flocculant such as polyvinyl alcohol, polyacrylamide or carboxymethylcellulose may be added to the above binder. |
