PURPOSE:To obtain a powdery secondary raw material for an oxide superconductor with a simple prepn. stage, and efficiently in a short time by heating and melting a mixture of powdery primary raw material of the oxide superconductor, atomizing the molten product by blowing a gas thereto, and coagulating the atomized molten body by quenching. CONSTITUTION:Powdery primary raw materials (e.g., Y2O3, BaCO3, CuO) for an oxide superconductor are weighed in a proportion for obtg. the superconductor and mixed. The mixture of the raw materials is charged to a crucible 2, heated in an electric furnace 4, and a molten body 3 is generated. Gas (e.g., O2, air) is introduced into the crucible 2 through a gass supply pipe 8, and a pressure in a space in the crucible 2 is raised, then the molten body 3 is flowed out from an outlet 7 of the melt by lifting a stopper 1. The molten body 3 is atomized by the gas (e.g., O2) blown out of a gas supply nozzle 5.
