PURPOSE: To establish clearances in the vertical direction and in the horizontal direction by advancing a nozzle so that male and female guide members are engaged with each other, to set the engagement of the male and female guide members to the desired value. CONSTITUTION: A tundish 10 is moved toward a casting machine together with a feed pipe and a nozzle assembly 12. First, a funnel-shaped opening part 136 of a nozzle stop part 134, and then, a pair of rollers 130, 132 on each side of the nozzle assembly are engaged with slender guide pins 66, 66'. When the engagement is achieved, the motion of a caster is delayed, and a nozzle 14 enters an inlet of a cavity 21 between upper and lower belts 18, 20 and between side dams. The motion of the caster is continued until nozzle stop parts 134a, 134b are engaged with a fixed casting machine stop part formed by a conical nut 70. Then, the guide pins 66, 66' continuously apply a certain force to the casting machine while the nozzle 14 is positioned at the prescribed position through regulation in the vertical direction and in the horizontal direction. As a result, the male and female guide members can establish the clearances in the vertical direction and in the horizontal direction to the desired value. |
