The control lever (1) for manoeuvring an object or controlling a process is rotatably located in at least one joint, and has a free end with a manually operable handgrip. The handgrip (2) and possibly adjacent hand or arm supports incorporate at least two detectors (3) for sensing the presence of an operator, detection requiring to be effected simultaneously by at least two detectors. The detection gives rise to the automatic introduction of increased safety measures if it is interrupted during ongoing manoeuvring or control, or where there is no operator present when manoeuvring or control is to be commenced. - The detectors are positioned so that they are difficult of access to a foreign object, and remain inactivated when such an object, e.g. fluid, boxes, cartons or planks, comes into contact with the lever handgrip. At least some of the detectors are photo cell units emitting light and receiving reflected light. |
