PURPOSE:To reduce waveform distortion due to the contour effect of a magnetic member for return path in a thin film head by forming the internal plane of the groove part of the magnetic member for return path in step shape. CONSTITUTION:The magnetic member with groove structure in which plural grooves parts 2 to fill a nonmagnetic material are provided with a constant interval is used as one main plane of the magnetic member 1. Namely, the internal plane 21 of the groove part equivalent to the confronting plane of a magnetic recording medium of a thin film head segmented and worked from a substrate is formed in a various kinds of step shape. Therefore, in a manufactured thin film magnetic head, leakage magnetic flux from the recording medium can be distributed on the confronting plane of at least one or more of crossing corner parts in an exposure plane 22 being exposed on the medium confronting plane of a magnetic substrate and the non-magnetic material 3 filled in the groove part 2 with the confronting plane 22. In such a way, it is possible to weaken subpeak due to the contour effect. |
