PURPOSE:To prevent the cracking of a riser tube in axial direction caused by the repeat of abrupt heating and cooling cycles by applying a lining heat- insulation material for the relaxation of thermal shock to a riser tube connected immediately above a burner of the lower part of a holding container. CONSTITUTION:A combustion gas ejected from a burner 3 attached to the lower part of a holding container 1 is introduced to the combustion gas space 7 at the upper part of the container 1 via a riser tube 6 connected immediately above the burner 3. The process gas is heated with the combustion gas and reformed with a catalyst to form a gas composed mainly of hydrogen. In the fuel reforming apparatus having the above structure, the inner surface of the riser tube 6 is lined with a lining heat-insulation material 17 for mitigating the thermal shock applied to the riser tube 6. The lining heat-insulation material 17 can sufficiently mitigate the abrupt heating of the inside of the riser tube 6 at the start of the apparatus from cold state and the abrupt cooling of the riser tube 6 by the cooling gas introduced to stop the operation of the plant. |
