Slate granules and procedure for obtaining them. The granules have a vitrified external surface, a size of diameter between 1 and 25 mm, a density between 0.4 and 1, and a Mohs hardness of 3 to 6. The process follows the stages of grinding slate waste, grading, heating with air injection to 1200 degree C and double rapid and slow cooling. Application as insulators and lightweight aggregates.
