PURPOSE: To obtain a corn fiber product having a high dietary fiber content by passing an aq. slurry of crude corn fibers through a liquid cyclone by using a specific operating pressure. CONSTITUTION: The aq. slurry of a solid content concn. of about 2 to 5wt.% is prepd. by diluting the crude fibers obtd. by a wet type pulverizing process of corn with water. The flow rate of the aq. slurry to be passed to the liquid cyclone is so regulated that the volume of the aq. slurry exists is the overflow current of the liquid cyclone at about 65 to 80% of the aq. slurry. The pressure drop in the liquid cyclone of this time is regulated to 0.56 to 0.9kg/cm<2> . The aq. slurry is passed through the liquid cyclone by using this operating pressure. Next, the overflow current is passed through a centrifugal paddle type screen having a screening aperture of about 2 to 4mm and the spacing between the screen and paddles of about 6 to 15mm from the liquid cyclone, by which the solids are separated and washed. |
