Deep freezer comprising an evaporator 8 and trays 10A for supporting the foodstuffs, the evaporator 8 being made in one part with its snake-like sections with hairpin bends 9 spaced in such a way as to correspond with the trays, load-bearing covers 10 made of sheet metal being applied on the said sections 9 in order to form the trays 10A, characterised in that each cover 10 is made in one part and is folded along one of its edges in such a way as to define a substantially box-shaped structure comprising a superimposed upper part 13 and lower part 14 , the said parts being folded at their free ends 15, 16 and these ends 15, 16 being joined together by mechanical means 17 in such a way as to fix the covers 10 to the snake-like sections with hairpin bends 9 of the evaporator 8.
