PURPOSE: To obtain an aseptically freeze-dried substance without using a dryer, etc., to require much expense, guiding a substance to be dried into a fungus-tight and sealable vessel made of a hydrophobic membrane, sealing the vessel fungus- tight and pressure-resistant, and freeze-drying the substance in the vessel under an ordinary condition. CONSTITUTION: The membrane used is steam permeable on one side but has micropores so small as not to pass a microorganism on the other side. The micropores as those have sizes of equal to or smaller than 0.5μm, especially equal to or smaller than 0.2μm. A membrane part on the wall face of a used vessel depends on each selected condition and drying time and those can be easily found by a simple test. The membrane sheet is preferably prepared from semipermeable paper made of cellulose or a usually used cellulose derivative such as cellulose acetate. Thus, a biological or pharmaceutical substance can be perfectly dried by a simple method and stored until it is used.
