In a control system for actuators in a motor vehicle, which, in addition to a mechanical basic function, carry out an additional function which can be achieved using electronic means, having at least one sensor for an input variable, a computer for converting the input variable into an output variable for an actuating element assigned to the additional function and having an emergency device for an emergency measure when an error occurs, the measures according to the invention consist in the fact that a function chain consisting of the function stages-sensor(s), computer and an emergency device assigned to the actuating element is constructed redundantly in contrast with the actuating element which is present only once, that the function chain elements acting in the same way are monitored for the same function and that the emergency measure is triggered if function chain elements acting in the same way exhibit a deviation by a predetermined degree.
