PURPOSE:To allow demultiplexing of a wavelength multiplex signal with good isolation by providing a single waveguide 6 from one side of a waveguide substrate to the point en route to the other side and a branch waveguide which is branched from the single waveguide and extends to the other side to the substrate. CONSTITUTION:The wavelength multiplex signal transmitted from the transmission side via an optical fiber 1 is made incident to respective laser diodes 121, 122 when said signal is made incident to the demultiplexer 20. The laser diodes 121, 122 vary in wavelength gain as shown in the figure and, therefore, only the light signal of the wavelength lambda1 is emitted from the laser diode (LP1) 121 and is sent to a photo/electric converter so as to be used for the reception processing thereof. Only the light signal of the wavelength lambdaz is similarly emitted from the laser diode (LD2) 122 and is sent to the photo/electric converter so as to be used for the reception processing thereof. Since the laser diodes do not resonate with the incident light of the wavelength different from the oscillation wavelength, the excellent demultiplexing performance is obtd. |
