Centrifuge drum has an aperture in its one circular gable, and is coupled via a shaft to a motor for rotation at high speed. Inside the drum, are several slightly conical plates fitted on a common pipe. All the plates have trough holes. An inlet pipe issues into the pipe in the drum, whilst another pipe through which the centrifuged milk is conducted away issues into the drum gable aperture. A small number of holes are provided in the drum cylindrical cover part, and in the plate pipe inside the drum are one or more pumps for forced circulation of the milk. - After the centrifuge, a heat exchanger is used to heat the milk by steam, and its outlet feeds the milk to a packing station where it is placed into one-time usage packages under aseptic conditions. |
