摘要 PURPOSE: To obtain a thin film structure having both magnetic and optically variable properties by using a metal-dielectric including a metal having magnetic and reflective properties for a multilayer interference coating which is carried by a substrate and produces an inherent color shift with an angle. CONSTITUTION: A multilayer interference coating 16 of a magnetic color shifting optically varying apparatus 11 is coated on one side surface of a lower layer 12 made of a PET or the like until a metal layer 17 becomes opaque with an alloy of 80 wt.% of a cobalt and 20 wt.% of nickel (+ or -10% to all metals) having high reflecting and magnetic properties, coated thereon with an optical space layer 18 of a dielectric such as magnesium fluoride, then with metal, chromium or the like having high absorbing properties to obtain an absorption layer 18. This causes different colors at positions 23a, 23b of eyes. A color reducing agent means, i.e., colored upper layer 26 is provided as needed. This optical variable structure can be utilized for encoding information of the layer 17. And, the cobalt-nickel alloy is formed in a symmetrical structure with a reflecting layer 32 to provide a magneto-optically variable pigment.
