In this device, the upper compression cylinder 3, the lower stop 2, the lateral compression cylinder (4 and 5, respectively) and/or the lateral stop are equipped, at their compression ends 6, with tool elements forming, together, a complete forming tool. The lateral compression cylinder (4 and 5, respectively) and the lateral stop are equipped with supplementary attachments 8 for the section of pipe. The invention consists in that the lateral stop consists of a supplementary lateral compression cylinder (5 and 4, respectively) and in that at least one of the two lateral compression cylinders 4, 5 is equipped at its compression end 6 with fluid-supply and -discharge conduits 9 capable of being connected to an adjustable fluid source 10 and emerging inside the attachment 8 for the section of pipe.
