PURPOSE:To process a picture mixed with plural pictures having a different characteristic in an excellent way by applying photoelectric conversion to an original picture input so as to output a digital picture signal, designating a desired area of the original picture and setting edge emphasis or smoothing quantity independently. CONSTITUTION:A CCD 103 outputs an analog signal in response to the strength of a light from an original, the signal is amplified by an amplifier 12, converted into a digital signal for each picture element by an 8-bit A/D converter 13 and a shading correction circuit 14 corrects the ununiformity of the output. The picture data subject to shading correction is inputted to a buffer memory section 15 and inputted to a filter 16 being a circuit block for edge emphasis or filter processing. Then the picture data after processing enters a gamma correction circuit 17, where density conversion is applied and the picture data subject to density conversion is subject to trimming/masking processing applying extracting/deleting a desired picture by a trimming/masking circuit 18. Thus, even an original picture where plural pictures with different characteristics exist in mixture is processed in an excellent way. |
