PURPOSE:To efficiently perform bleaching and sterilization treatment and to prevent the generation of a cork smell, by bringing a cork plug into contact with ozone gas. CONSTITUTION:For example, a cork plug is received in a hermetically closed container and, after evacuation, ozone gas to which humidity is pref. imparted is blown in said container to be stagnated for a definite time or to be recirculated continuously. In this case, the concn. of the ozone gas may be appropriately determined with due regard to a use purpose but is usually set to 1,000-7,000ppm, pref., about 3,000-4,000ppm and a contact time may be also appropriately determined and is generally set to 2-5hr, pref., 3-4hr. When the cork plug is bleached and sterilized by this method, the coloring matter in cork is oxidized and bleached and bacteria adhered not only to the surface of cork but also to the interior thereof can be killed. |
