The invention consists of a piercing method which can be adjusted using a stop system and characterised by the use of a specific cutting tool. The device comprises a drill bit to which is fixed an adjustable stop comprising a stop body 1, a knurled nut 2, and a graduated ring 6. The tool 5 is fixed to the drill bit 1 by means of a gripper clamping assembly. A simple rotation of the knurled nut 2 makes it possible to adjust the cutting depth and to provide the counterboring spot-facing of the metal sheet to be taken apart. The device according to the invention is particularly intended for operations of taking apart spot-welded car bodywork elements. <IMAGE>
