The invention relates to a method for constructing a bridge over a roadway, by moving over the roadway a platform constructed off-site. In order to limit the time of the interruption to the traffic on the roadway as much as possible, the platform 30, or a platform segment, is fitted in advance with a prop 11. The platform 30 or platform segment is shifted both over an abutment 6 and on temporary rails 12A which are placed across a part of the roadway and support the prop. After the prop has reached the end of the temporary rails, these are dismounted, the traffic flow is restarted, then the operation is repeated until the prop and the front of the platform or platform segment has reached the opposite abutment 7. <IMAGE>
