<p>PURPOSE:To send a signal representing a difference through a transmission line of less capacity by switching a prediction signal not through a filter and a prediction signal through the filter depending whether the signal is a contour part or not. CONSTITUTION:An orthogonal conversion coding means 1 receives a prediction signal (d) via a filter means 4, detects a difference between both the signals a, d, applies orthogonal conversion coding and outputs the result to a transmission line and a prediction means 2. The prediction means 2 receives a difference subject to orthogonal conversion coding and applies inverse orthogonal conversion, receives the prediction signal (d) via the filter means 4, predicts an inputted picture signal to output a prediction signal (b) to a contour detection means 3 and the filter means 4. The contour detection means 3 receives the prediction signal (b) to detect the contour part of the picture signal itself of the prediction signal and outputs the contour signal (b) representing the contour to the filter means 4. The filter means 4 receives the prediction signal (b) and the contour signal (c) and the part other than the contour part of the picture signal itself is subject to filter processing and the result is outputted to the orthogonal conversion coding means 1 and the prediction means 2 as the prediction signal (d). Thus, the signal representing a difference is sent through a transmission line of less capacity.</p> |
