The device for regulating the clamping of the guide sleeve (16) for an automatic lathe with a sliding headstock comprises a direct current motor (1) which, via a universal-joint transmission mechanism (4) and gears contained in a housing (10), drives a member (19) screwed into the sleeve (16) in order to ensure the closure and the opening of the latter. Via a potentiometer (25), an electronic control (2) sends a current of specified intensity to the motor (1) through the line (24). Under the action of this current, the motor (1) generates a strictly specified torque which, via the mechanism (4), the gears of the housing (10), and the member (19), applies the sleeve (16) against the bar of material (18). A counter, adjusted by a button (46), then causes the motor (1) to be withdrawn by a given angle with respect to the clearance required between the bar (18) and the sleeve (16). Alternatively or cumulatively, the control (2) comprises counters adjusted by buttons (36, 37) in order to rotate the motor (1) by given angles so as to increase momentarily the clamping force of the sleeve (16).

|
