PURPOSE:To extend a printing area by removing existence of a printing impossible area in upper and lower parts of paper, by a method wherein printing is performed when a thermal head passes upper end and lower end areas of the paper in sucking and discharging the paper. CONSTITUTION:A top of paper 8 is fed to a position at which a line thermal head 1 comes in contact with a platen 4, and the head 1 is forced onto the platen 4 via a black part of an ink ribbon 17. Then, after reading a data to be printed from an 1C card, the paper is transferred to the head 1, and printing by black ink is performed on a A part. Successively printing is performed on a B part by using ribbon of three colors of yellow, magenta, and cyan. After ending this printing, the head 1 is forced onto the platen 4 via the black part of the ribbon 17. After reading the data to be printed from the IC card, the paper is transferred to the head 1, and the printing by black ink is performed on a C part. |
