PURPOSE: To increase the production rate by bringing a fluid mixture into contact with an ion exchange resin bed a having a water holding capacity of 40% with a functionalized reference, eluting the fluid mixture through the resin bed and collecting first and second components. CONSTITUTION: A gel type copolymer produced by multistage polymerization is conditioned through functionalization. A fluid mixture containing at least first and second components is then brought into contact with an ion exchange resin bed having a water holding capacity of at least 40% with sufficiently functionalized reference. Subsequently, a fluid mixture is eluted by passing it through the resin bed under such conditions as the passing rate of the first component is retarded as compared with the second component. Finally, a product flow rich in the first component and a product flow rich in second component are collected. Consequently, the production rate can be increased without varying the pressure drop, yield and purity. |
