PURPOSE:To secure color formation at a comparatively low temperature, by providing a color forming layer comprising an electron-donative organic compound capable of coloration, an aromatic sulfonium organic acid salt, a thermal active agent and a high molecular weight substance which does not contain any acid group, on a support. CONSTITUTION:An aromatic sulfonium organic acid salt of formula I (R is H, an alkyl, alkoxyl, nitro or halogen, and X is AsF6, SbF6, BF6, PF6 or the like), an electron-donative organic compound capable of coloration, and an aromatic ammonium organic acid salt of formula II (each of R1, R2, R3, R4 and R5 is H, an alkyl, alkoxyl, nitro or the like, and X is AsF6, SbF6, BF4 or the like) are dispersed in an organic solvent. The dispersed liquid thus obtained is mixed with a film-forming high molecular weight substance not containing any acid group to prepare a coating liquid, which is applied to a support, followed by drying to provide a color forming layer, thereby obtaining a thermal color forming material. |
