<p>This invention relates to a process for producing bisimides of unsaturated cyclic dianhydrides by cyclo-dehydration of the corresponding bisamic acid using acetic anhydride and a base component. The latter is a combination of (a) anhydrous sodium acetate and (b) a salt selected from acetate, chloride, bromide, nitrate or sulphate of potassium, sodium chloride; the chloride or sulphate of Mg; and ferric sulphate. The bisimides are useful cross-linking agents for elastomers.</p> |
