Tilting device for chair, having - a base (1) which can be fixed to the underframe, preferably a standard, of the chair, - an angular back support (3) with a lower and an upper leg, and - a seat support (2), in which - the lower leg of the back support (3) in the region of the centre of the seat is mounted in a bearing (18) on the base (1), and - at least one tension spring (5, 5a) is provided between base (1) and seat support (2) and runs in the seat direction, and at its front end is fixed to the base (1) and at its rear end acts on the lower leg of the back support (3), and - the back support (3) has a locking plate (8) with a succession of locking recesses (19), in which, for the purpose of locking, a locking holder (9) supported on the base (1) can be engaged, characterized in that - the lower leg of the back support (3) has a front part extending forwards from the bearing (18), - the locking plate (8) is fixed on the free end of this front part, - a guide element (6) is provided in the rear region of the base (1) and above the lower leg of the back support (3), and - a traction cord (7), which is fixed at its one end to the free end of the tension spring (5) and at its other end behind the bearing (18) on the lower leg of the back support (3), is led over this guide element (6). |
