The invention relates to a method for manipulating preferably textile materials. By means of the simultaneous application of vibrations and directed air below the textile material, manipulating it is improved considerably. In addition to the air from below, directed air from above is applied selectively, which is added, as required, in an appropriate amount, at an appropriate time and in an appropriate direction. The air supply can be controlled via sensors.
