For administration of magnesium to animals, especially to cattle, cattle feeding components are mixed with magnesium oxide at least a part of which has been converted into magnesium chloride, the magnesium content, calculated as MgO, being at least 5% of the weight of the fodder. According to an example, the salt is 3MgO. Mg Cl2. 7-8 H2O, cakes of 15% Mg content (as MgO) being pressed from a mixture of the salt with meals, linseed cake meal and molasses. A preferred mixture is obtained by reacting magnesium oxide with an aqueous solution of magnesium chloride in a ratio of more than 3 moles MgO to 1 mole Mg Cl2. |
