PURPOSE:To insulate a silver (II) oxide body, which contains a specific amount of an additive, completely from a silver layer by subjecting the silver (II) oxide body to a weak reduction treatment and an oxidation treatment in that order before the silver layer is formed. CONSTITUTION:A molded body of a silver (II) oxide mixture 12 contains as an additive, cadmium, tellurium, or a mixture prepared by combining cadmium or tellurium with at least one component chosen from among mercury, thallium, germanium, yttrium, tin, tungsten, lanthanum, a rare earth element, zinc, selenium and aluminum. A silver (I) oxide layer 14 containing no metals is provided over the entire surface of the molded body of the silver (II) oxide mixture 12, and a silver layer 13 is provided on either a part or the whole of the surface of the silver (I) oxide layer 14. The content of the whole of the above components is adjusted to 10-5,000ppm of the silver (II) oxide mixture 12. The silver layer 13 provided on the surface of the positive mixture 12 is formed by reducing the surface of the positive mixture 12 by a proper reducing means, and the silver (I) oxide layer 14 also is formed at the same time when such a reduction is carried out. |
